Acer (AOpen)	http://www.aopen.com/tech/download/modem/default.htm Notes: We have seen cases where 56K modems have connected to our system at 33.6K with older windows drivers - we recommend that if you are not achieving 56K speeds that the modem be upgraded. Upgrade Notes: Acer FM56-P: Sometimes when this modem is upgraded to the newest version of the drivers, it will have trouble with the intial tone that is sent by our system - to fix this, add two commas to the end of the phone number you are dialing (for example: 7425710,,). If this does not give higher speeds on a couple of connections, you may want to try extra commas (more than 5 has not proved to be useful)

Packard Bell	http://support.packardbell.com/downloads/drivers.asp?audio Notes: Packard Bell has developed a utility which will update all of their modems to v.90 regardless of model. Anyone that has purchased a packard bell system before April, 1999 should download this utility to get the latest version of the drivers for your modem. Once the modem has been upgraded, you must go to Start->Settings->Control Panel, then double click on system and click on the devices table, select the modem from the list and choose properties then update the driver (then choose wherever you placed the files that were downloaded). It has been found that this update can significantly increase the connect speeds when connecting with KwikLink 56K services.
Note: Modem upgrades should only be performed by people that are confortable performing the upgrades. If the upgrades are not performed properly, there is the possibility of rendering the modem unusable.
