What Is KwikShield?
KwikShield offers protection against e-mails containing viruses and provides an easy way to minimize the amount of junk mail that you receive in your mailbox.

How does it work?
KwikShield is offered free to KwikLink customers and operates by testing each mail message that comes through for several junk-mail related characteristics and tagging it if it appears to be junk mail. From there - you have the choice of whether to automatically delete junk mail messages, put them in a different folder so you can review them later, or continue to receive them.

What do I have to do?
KwikShield tags emails if they are found to be junk mail or contain a virus. With KwikShield tagging the junk emails and viruses all you have to do is setup an email filter to remove the emails that have been tagged.

How accurate is the KwikShield junk mail detector?
In our testing, KwikShield correctly identified over 99% of junk mail and allowed it to be removed from a mailbox. As with any automated system, however, it is possible that a message may be marked as junk mail incorrectly and you may want to consider reviewing the junk mail to make sure no important correspondance is missed.

How do I setup a filter in my email program?
KwikShield gives you the power to determine how you want to handle e-mails that it identifies as junk mail. Examples of how to setup different mail programs to automatically delete junk mail are provided for the following programs:

• Outlook Express
• Microsoft Outlook
• Pegasus Mail
• Eudora
• Netscape Messenger

Can KwikShield be setup to filter my mail without having to download it to my computer?
Not yet. We anticipate that the ability to get rid of all junk mail automatically will be available in the next release of the KwikShield service.

I have a domain name (www.yourcompany.com) that is hosted with KwikLink. Are my e-mails protected from viruses/junk mail the same as my @klis.com address?

KwikShield does not automatically scan domain-based e-mails even if they are hosted on the KwikLink mail servers. If you have a domain registered through KwikLink or have a dedicated connection, then this service is available to you at no charge. Just send an e-mail to support@klis.com and we will activate it for you.
