56K Is Here!!
-------------
KwikLink Internet access just got better! KwikLink is proud to announce
the availability of V.90 56K to our customers in the Yarmouth area.
We currently have 24 completely digital lines with all of the equipment
in place to support an additional 24 lines as the demand dictates.
This brings our total number of dial-up lines to over 160. If you have
a V.90 compliant modem, you can simply change the phone
number you are dialing to our new 56K access number:
KwikLink 56K: (902) 742-5710
Customers with V.90 compliant modems should see significant speed
increases over the 33.6K dial pool. In the coming weeks, we will be
fine tuning some of the aspects of our 56K service to ensure that
you get the greatest possible speed as well as deploying 56K to
other areas served by KwikLink dial-up services. Do not change
your settings unless you have a V.90 compliant modem as you will
see no particular advantages and it will make it more difficult
for others to reach the digital lines.
If you experience any difficulties accessing the 56K pool, please
contact us at support@klis.com

Focus: What Is An IP Address?
-----------------------------
While surfing the Internet, surfers will frequently see their
software display numbers such as 207.176.172.20 while connecting
to other computers. These addresses are referred to as Internet
Protocol (IP) Addresses and act as the "Internet Phone Number"
of every machine on the Internet. Every machine that is connected
needs to have a different address so each computer can talk
directly to every other machine on the Internet.
A question that is frequently asked is the question of whether or
not a server can be run from a machine that is dialed into the
Internet through KwikLink (ex. Can I run a temporary web server
or FTP server on a KwikLink connection?), the answer to this
question is Yes since each time you login, your machine is given
its own IP address by our system that other people on the Internet
can use to communicate with your computer directly (if you have
services that your machine is offering).
If you have any questions concerning IP addresses, please
contact us at support@klis.com
KwikLink is always looking for comments or suggestions on how we can
improve our services for all of our users. If you have any
suggestions, please don't hesitate to contact us at sales@klis.com
