Thank you for getting involved in the 1998 All Saints Halloween Program.
As we have discussed in our various briefings, there are several things to
remember as you go about your duties this weekend...
1. No confrontations: Under no circumstances are you to get involved in
any confrontations with anyone. This is very important for you, the All
Saints program and the people we assist. If you come upon a dangerous
situation merely "back off" and seek aid. If you are involved in a
"self defense" situation, call for backup from nearby groups and
support and then follow the procedure of (a) Persuade; (b) Advise;
(c) Warn (d) Act {by then the RCMP or local police and other support
will be on the scene to assist you}.
2. Stay in teams: Always stay with your team mates. Work together and support each other. If problems arise, simply follow the procedures that were discussed in class. Remember always stay together and work as one unit.
We must work and support each other this Halloween. We are on our own and
need each other to succeed. Remember, divided we fall...but United We Stand.
3. Dress for weather conditions: Be conscious of the weather and weather
changes which has been forecast. If it is damp on Halloween, try to come
prepared. If you want, you can bring a change of clothes and then leave
them at our central location.
4. Support and be aware of each other: If you are using CBs or other
radio communication system, you may hear calls from other teams. Be aware
of them, their location and their situation(s). Support them. But, try not
to band together. Keep apart, but not too far apart. You always want to be
within a good support distance of each other.
5. No vehicles: There will be no personal vehicles used for security.
(a) It is a risk to your safety; (b) radio communications do not work well
in them; (c) vehicles are often dangerous to the safety others; (d) the
response time is seriously hampered in a vehicle; (e) vehicles reduce our
manpower by 33 -50%; (f) it is against most school board policies.
6. Serve and Protect: This is our motto. We serve and protect our community, its members no matter how old or young. We look after others as well as their property.
